THE DOCTORS:
Dr. Darah Ashton is a welcoming and caring person, which translates immediately into her work as a chiropractor. She draws on many years of experience in diagnosing the source of your pain and applying a variety of treatments to bring your body back into balance. Darah strives to make each patient feel important and valued; she enjoys creating and implementing plans for your recovery.
Darah got her bachelor’s degree in Business and graduated with honors from Western States Chiropractic College. She also continues to keep her knowledge up-to-date with continuing education in patient care, new techniques and modalities.
Dr. MaryAnn Geness is an empathetic and happy chiropractor. She carefully listens to her patients and works closely with them to diagnose their complaints and determine what type of care would help them the most. She often employs several techniques during the appointment, creating customized treatment for each patient. MaryAnn helps her patients to thrive in their lives through reduced pain and better health.
MaryAnn was a licensed massage therapist for ten years before becoming a chiropractor. She has a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology and graduated with honors from Western States Chiropractic College. MaryAnn also adds to her knowledge base with regular continuing education in chiropractic. She has been working with Darah for over a decade.
Dr. Mary Psaromatis has personal experience with much of what she treats, which makes her a sympathetic and confident doctor. She has a broad range of experience including extensive work with pregnancy, infants, and children (including 5 of her own). She has experience with onsite workstation evaluations to determine what motions or positions might be creating problems or pain for a person. She likes to figure out unique and interesting cases, including dizziness, ear, sinus, and jaw issues, heartburn and fibromyalgia, and arm and leg pain.
Mary received a bachelor’s degree in Health Studies (pre-medicine and physical therapy) from Boston University giving her a strong background in injury rehabilitation. She graduated with honors from Western States Chiropractic College in 2004 and continues to update her knowledge through seminars, webinars, and reading. Her current areas of interest and exploration include muscle pain, supplements, and nutrition. She is currently working on an informational website about muscle pain at MusclePainSolutions.com.
Dr. Rachel Bailey has been around chiropractic all of her life. Her father is a practicing DC in her home town in Indiana. Rachel came to Portland, Oregon in 2007 to study chiropractic at The University of Western States. In addition to her degree in chiropractic, Rachel also holds the title of registered radiologic technologist (RT) with specialty in computed tomography (CT). She is also a faculty member of the radiology department of The University of Western States.
Rachel feels that her best qualities are genuine compassion for her patients, the ability to listen clearly to patient’s concerns, and the ability to treat those concerns gently and effectively. Her areas of particular interest in the field of chiropractic are musculoskeletal complaints, sports medicine and related injuries and overall wellness. Her methodology incorporates low-force adjusting, physical therapy modalities, kinesio tape, Graston technique, supplements and nutrition.
All the doctors adjust in a similar way and enjoy co-treating patients. This partnership allows their patients the benefit of their combined expertise and unique skill-sets. They consult with one another, drawing on each others strengths to give their patients optimum care.
MASSAGE THERAPISTS:
Our massage therapists are trained to work with patient’s individual needs and work closely with the doctors to enhance patient care. We have several massage therapists at our clinic, allowing us to offer therapeutic and relaxation massage six days a week with some evening appointments as well.
Michelle Crow has been a licensed massage therapist for nine years and she has been working here at Ashton Geness Chiropractic Clinic for almost seven of those years. She finds massage a rewarding career in which she is always learning through reading and seminars. She specializes in deep tissue and trigger point massage, with training also in sports massage, myofascial release and cranio-sacral technique.
Chelsea Hereth has been a licensed massage therapist since 2005 and has been performing massage at our office for almost five years. Chelsea has furthered her education with a wide variety of continuing education courses which she incorporates into a style that is unique to her, with strongest influences coming from Deep Tissue and Swedish massage techniques. She loves assisting her clients in their healing process.
Valerie Robertson has been a licensed massage therapist for seven years and has been with us for four years. She has in depth training in deep tissue massage, myofascial release, pin and stretch and trigger point techniques. She also does craniosacral massage paired with deep tissue work for particular complaints in the head, neck, low back and hip complaints.
SUPPORT STAFF:
We have a knowledgeable staff that knows the ins and outs of insurance and would be happy to explain your insurance benefits or answer any questions that you have about your account.
